MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lord Wavell’s Funeral. DESCRIPTION: After a private service in the Tower of London for family mourners, the coffin containing Lord Wavell’s mortal remains was borne out by men of the old regiment, the Black Watch. The coffin was laid on board an army launch for the journey to Westminster Abbey. The pall-bearers for the journey included Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Cunningham, Field Marshals Alanbrooke, Montgomery and Auchinleck, as well as other senior Service leaders. SHOTLIST: KS. GV Tower of London, coffin being borne along pier. Coffin aboard naval [sic] launch, by men of the Black Watch. Launch moves up river, shot from London Bridge approaching & out of camera. GV Embankment (Library). Coffin brought ashore. Various shots cortege passing along Bridge Street & through Parliament Square. Troops march before & after coffin. Pall-bearers include Lord Cunningham, Field Marshal Alanbrooke, Field Marshal Montgomery, Field Marshal Auchinleck & Earl Mountbatten. Coffin being lifted off gun-carriage & carried into Westminster Abbey. Tilt down of Abbey.
