Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: May Day - Continental Scenes. DESCRIPTION: About half a million people in the British sector of Berlin attended the anti-communist demonstration which consisted largely of speeches by prominent men, including Herr Reuter, Senior Burgomaster. Meanwhile in the Russian sector a demonstration, in the form a parade, took place. SHOTLIST: KS. Procession through streets. Various shots of procession passing along streets quite orderly in British sector of Berlin. Various shots of huge crowds listening to anti-Communist speeches, some by Herr Reuter. Soviet War Memorial in British sector guarded by West German police & British troops. Crowd paying respects to Russian dead. Police try to move crowds on. In Russian sector, organised processions accent on freedom of youth by Russians. Procession was endless, taking six hours to pass. People carried large banners of Stalin, Molotov etc.
