- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wagga Wagga Prepares for the Worst Floods. DESCRIPTION: When a large dam on the Murrumbidgee River in New South Wales overflowed recently, due to heavy and continuous rains, the town of Wagga Wagga was declared in a state of emergency. Before the flood waters reached the town all precautions had been taken and not a single life was lost. SHOTLIST: KS. KS stranded lorry in centre of street. Elevated GV (aerial) of dam over-flowing. People begin to evacuate town loading materials onto lorries. People stand by river Murrenbidgee watching the gauge rise. Main street almost deserted, men building walls in front of shops to stop water. People evacuate, taking livestock, dogs etc. GV of water across countryside. River shows water high under bridge. Night (dusk) shot of high street shows few passing lorries with town in darkness. Daylight shot shows water about 2ft deep in high street. "Dukws" rescue some people, various shots. Various GVs of the terrific floods surrounding the country. Aerials of the floods.
