Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Naval Exercises in Australian Waters. DESCRIPTION: Units of the Australian and New Zealand Navies lie at anchor in Akaroa Harbour, Wellington, New Zealand, before taking part in Combined Exercises; New Zealanders act as the enemy in the mock battle. SHOTLIST: KS. Pan of fleets in Akaroa Harbour, Wellington, New Zealand. GV destroyers setting off, getting under way. Aerial of "Australia" cruiser. Aerial "Sydney" aircraft carrier - two shots. Aerials of Fireflies & Sea-Furies taking off from carrier. New Zealand cruiser "Bellona" firing her ack-ack guns, several shots. Fighter lands on carrier "Sydney" OK. Two others land one stopped by safety net, other crashes into bridge so-called. Flare shot into sky to warn other aircrafts of crash. Fighter veers off retracting under carriage. Cut-ins of "bats" on deck.
