MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Carnival That’s Different. DESCRIPTION: The Carnival at Sainte-Claude in France dates from the fourteenth century, when white monks apparently behaved in a rather scandalous manner towards the local ladies. SHOTLIST: KS. Elevated GV of town. Procession through streets, girls being chase by "Scufflaculs" using hand bellows, placing them up girls’ skirts, etc. Various shots of men dressed as "monks". Some girls treat it with contempt others rather embarrassed.
