Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Pre-Election Service. DESCRIPTION: The leaders of the three main political parties attended the service at St Paul’s Cathedral (the first of its kind) held on the eve of the general election campaign. In the constituencies canvassing begins and posters appear everywhere. SHOTLIST: KS. GV St Paul’s Cathedral with Fleet Street in the fore. SCU St Paul’s. Elevated GV of crowds & cars arrive at St Paul’s. Ground shot Dr Fisher arriving. Mr & Mrs Churchill arrive. Mr Morrison arrives, followed by Mr & Mrs Attlee. STILL: Group of the above seated in front & other ministers. (Mix pan of ministers in front row). Sub title ‘Election in Ernest’, Mr & Mrs Churchill walk down steps of St Paul’s. East Lewisham Labour Party Committee Rooms quick pan to Conservatives ditto in same road. Posters - Conservatives being pasted up. Interior Labour Committee Room, shows literature bring handed out, canvassers leave room. Canvasser (Conservative) stand talking (silent) to people around market stalls. Canvasser (Labour) handing out pamphlet at door of house. At beginning is Lord Woolton watching bill-poster stick up Conservative Poster.
