Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Gold Mine on Fire. DESCRIPTION: Near Johannesburg in South Africa, the Robinson Deep Gold Mine catches fire, because of the intense heat it cannot be put out, but efforts are being made to prevent it from spreading. SHOTLIST: KS. GV gold mine. Elevated pan of gold mine. GV city of Johannesburg (very good). Pan ditto. Interior - directors of mine give instructions over map to workers. SCU lift shaft wheel turning slowly. Native workers form "chain" pass sandbags. MS entrance to liftshaft. Native workers lying on ground resting. SCU head of native with tin helmet over his head. Reliefs walk towards lift shaft.
