MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Britain’s Record Easter. DESCRIPTION: LONDON - Most people have seemed to have gone away for their Easter. SOUTHEND - Where the new streamlined trains were carrying people, who did not want to walk, along the pier. BRIGHTON - Another South Coast resort where many more people spent the weekend. BLACKPOOL - Many people from the North of England spent their Easter in Blackpool. GOODWOOD - Over forty thousand people went to see some thrilling motor racing. TINSLEY GREEN - Here the marbles experts decided the championship of Great Britain. HYDE PARK PARADE - Back in London to Hyde Park for the Easter Parade where Screen and Stage stars showed the latest hats and fashions, the crowd was estimated at three hundred thousand. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS. LONDON - Elevated GV Oxford Street, with little traffic passing along same. Elevated GV London Bridge, almost deserted of pedestrians & traffic. Elevated GV City Street deserted. GV Royal Exchange, very little traffic. (15 seconds). SOUTHEND - People promenade along Southend front. People bask in sun on beach. Fairgrounds in full swing, helter-skelter, cars etc. People row boats, steam yachts on coast, also yachts. Several shots of electric trains along Southend Pier, includes new & old type. Interior of train, seating capacity. Person in deck-chair sleeping. MS crowds on beach. SCU person dozing, head nodding. (43 seconds). BRIGHTON - GV Brighton front. Basking in sun on beach. People in sea swimming & entering sea. Motor boat at speed off beach. Kids paddling in pool. GV crowds on beach. Couple promenade, girl in large hat. Invalid being pushed along promenade. (43 seconds). BLACKPOOL - Crowds on beach with Tower in background. Various shots of fairground. Crowds everywhere, on prom & beach. (24 seconds). GOODWOOD - MS crowds seated on piles on timber. GV of paddock scene, tuning up cars. Several panning shots of racing, cut-in person hits another with telescope when following course of car. Bob Gerard and Tony Rolt. Crowd scene. (51 seconds). TINSLEY GREEN - Crowds look on. Several shots of marbles contest in progress. CU types watching. Prizes being presented includes barrel of beer, SCU winner with barrel on shoulder. (37 seconds). HYDE PARK - Large crowds in Park, trucking shot of same. Crowds swarm round film stars etc. wearing Easter bonnets, period dresses, etc. Four-in-one arrives along Rotten Row. People on same in period dress, drinking champagne. GV crowds. (70 seconds).
