- Summary
- Atsugi: American seaborne force sweeps ashore in Yokusuka. Vice Admiral Carney accepts the surrender on behalf of the US Generals Wainwright, Doolittle and MacArthur the "Missouri". The Japanese envoys arrive, headed by Foreign Minister Shigemitsu. General MacArthur speaks. The surrender is then signed by the Japanese, followed by American, Chinese and Russian signatures.
