World Pictorial News

Dates
1940 - 1946
Category
Newsreel - World War 2 series
History
The War Pictorial News ran from September 1940 until October 1945, when its name was changed to the World Pictorial News. The War Pictorial News was released by the Cairo office of the Ministry of Information, and distributed to all Allied troops stationed in the Middle East. It carried many stories from the domestic British newsreels, but its geographical location also gave it early access to certain stories released from the USSR. It was released with a special commentary in either English, French or Arabic. Under the title World Pictorial News it continued to be distributed in occupied territories until August 1946.
