Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Sovereign Handed Back. DESCRIPTION: Russian naval men visit Holyrood House, also see some sights and visit Edinburgh City Chamber. Vice-Admiral Sir Ernest Archer, accepts the return of the battleship. The chief feature of the ceremony was hauling down of the Russian flag and hoisting the White Ensign. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Holyrood House, with cars in fore. Ditto. Russian officers stand beside cars with large expanse of country in background, near Arthur’s Seat. GV City Chambers, Edinburgh. Lord Provost outside same, with Russian officers, shakes hands etc., bids them farewell. Admiral Archer boards naval launch and out of camera. Soviet flag flying on Royal Sovereign. Russians play our National Anthem. CU Soviet flag flying & MS hauling same down. MS White Ensign being hoisted & CU same flying. Russian personnel run along deck & gather round British officer. Russians run along deck off RS onto Russian transport ship, lying alongside. Name of ship Ukrainia. GV & LS of Ukrainia pulling away. MS signal flying on destroyer. LS Ukrainia getting under way.
