MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Atlantic Scene. DESCRIPTION: LIGHTHOUSE DEMOLISHED - The Shinnecock Lighthouse, on the coast of Long Island, is redundant so had to be demolished. WRIGHT PLANE INSTALLED - The Wright Brothers plane installed in the Smithsonian Institute. Chief Justice Vinson led the ceremonies. ASSISTED JET C-47 - Jet equipment was used for take off of a C-47 that was forced down in a wheat field in Illinois. GREENLAND RESCUE - Pictures of the 12 airmen marooned on a Greenland glacier 8,000 feet high. SHOTLIST: KS MS American newspaper headline. GV Shinnecock Lighthouse, wrecked cutting away bricks from base. Timber placed in hole & caught light. GV of lighthouse falling & hitting ground. (28 seconds). KS WRIGHTS PLANE INSTALLED - MS plane at museum. Several shots of plane installed at American Museum. Judge Vinson addresses meeting, installing the Wright Brothers plane. (37 seconds). C-47 JET ASSISTED - KS GV C-47 in wheatfield. Jets being attached to assist in short run take-off. Crew board plane. MS engines turning & take-off, assisted by jets. (41 seconds). GREENLAND RESCUE - KS Aerial Greenland glacier. Men board plane, hook for picking up glider attached. Aerials shots of waste land, glacier. Various aerials, flying over marooned crews of plane forced down on glacier. Side of plane open & supplies being dropped, shot from inside fuselage of plane. Aerial of glacier. (67 seconds).
