- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Pick of the Bathing Beauties. DESCRIPTION: The National Bathing Beauty Contest at Morecambe was won by Pamela Bayliss of Northern Ireland. SHOTLIST: KS Pan of bathing beauties. GV pan of swimming pool. Girls parade round pool, walk into camera (x3). SCU one competitor. GV line up of girls some in two piece costumes (not quite bikinis). Cut-in crowds seated round pool watching. Rear view of girls lined up, one of the girl’s posterior quivering - nerves. Girls mount rostrum, Miss Lewis from Isle of Man. Cut-in Wilfred Pickles, Mabel Pickles, June Mitchell and Charles Eade judging. SCU winner, Miss Pamela Bayliss (No 17). Mayor of Morecambe presents £500 cheque to her. Mr Eade presents her with silver rose bowl. Wilfred Pickles congratulates her. Presents her to the public. 2nd was Mrs Spinks.
