MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mountbattens in Burma. DESCRIPTION: Lord and Lady Mountbatten were in Burma to present, on behalf of the King and the Government of India, the silver carpet and royal table of King Theebaw. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV pagoda, people in fore, small group. ditto. MS Mountbattens past camera. LS Shwe Dagon Pagoda, party walk towards same. MS of same. GV pagoda. Lady Mountbatten lifts a stone in pagoda (traditional). Followed by Lord Mountbatten doing same. Incidentally they are walking about bare footed. Mountbattens and party inside on raised platform. Burmese lay out silver carpet. They then bring in a taktaposh (decorative table). Lord Mountbatten unveils King Theebaw’s throne. MS of same. AT ASSAM - Lord Mountbatten in naval uniform inspects tribesmen. Tribesmen giving a traditional tribal dance. Women folk of tribes also give tribal dance.
