MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Film Festival. DESCRIPTION: The Odeon Leicester Square was the venue for the British Film Festival which was organised by the Daily Mail. Many stars attended and some scenes from current films were re-enacted. SHOTLIST: KS MS exterior Odeon Cinema. MS sign British Film Festival outside cinema. Several shots of crowds outside cinema. Crowds inside foyer. Personalities arrive include Mr Gerald Sanger and Mrs Sanger. SCU Lionel Gamlin interviews Googie Withers and John McCallum, her husband, speaks of their recent wedding. Tilt up of Finlay Currie in convicts clothes with chains round his ankles as Magwitch in Great Expectations. Lionel Gamlin interviews Richard Attenborough, speak of Brighton Rock and his haircut. Cut-in British Movietone title. SCU & CU Patricia Roc and Dermot Walsh, the former asks Roc if she loves him etc. etc. acting a scene from Jassie. CU John Mills in costume of Pip in Great Expectations tells how he got his name of Pip. MS & SCU Jack Warner and Kathleen Harrison re-enacting part from Holiday Camp. MS Bonar Colleano and Ronald Howard do comedy part from While the Sun Shines. CU Colleano on telephone. MS & CU Basil Sydney and Margaret Lockwood in period dress, re-enacting part from Jassie, Lockwood telling Sydney what she thinks of him. GV curtain drawn in front of stage trumpeters sound finale. Curtain opens shows galaxy of stars on stage. Mix with CU Silver Star Trophy to finish.
