- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Welcome 1948 - Chelsea Arts Ball and Piccadilly Circus. DESCRIPTION: CHELSEA ARTS BALL - The annual revel at the Royal Albert Hall was enjoyed by all. PICCADILLY CIRCUS - Eros was the centre of attention for the revellers in Piccadilly Circus, police surrounded the statue to keep them off. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Elevated GV interior Royal Albert Hall floor, crowds dancing. Various cut-ins of couples dancing, shows types, fancy dresses etc. MS people ballroom dancing. Tilt down, panning with balloons as they fall from ceiling to floor, several people fighting, jumping in air to catch same. Elevated Mardi Gras procession, several GVs of procession, close ups of grotesque figures into camera. People break up model. People clamber onto other models. In boxes small parties enjoy themselves, drinking, laughing, kissing. CU couple on floor kissing. Various shots of the Baroque parade, elevated shots of tableaux etc. Cut-in bagpipes being paraded. MS Baroque chessboard displaying all the kings, queens etc. procession round centre of hall, crowds being kept back by police. Floats being broken up several shots. SCU Chinaman (Reg Sutton), his whiskers lifting each side. Various shots of floats being broken up. In Piccadilly Circus (all night material) elevated shots of crowds congregated around Eros, taxi endeavours to get through crowds, crowds swarm over same. Elevated shot of policemen guarding Eros, crowds try to break through police. CU Eros. ATS officer kisses a policeman standing at base of Eros. Elevated GV of crowds - raining.
