Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Punjab Disturbances. DESCRIPTION: Sikh and Hindus have carried on fighting in various parts of the Punjab region. Refugees have been moving in both directions across the border between India and Pakistan. SHOTLIST: KS GV across river of the Golden Temple at Amristsar. At Amritsar, houses burning, flames leaping through windows. GVs of burning houses and streets of rubble. At Kasur railway station, shots of dead lying on ground. Wounded on stretchers. CU wounded. Crowds swarm on railway train, on top of carriages, hanging on side of train, etc. GVs of Sikh and Hindu refugees trekking along road, men, women and children, bullocks pulling heavily loaded carts with private belongings. Child hanging onto a bullock, man on side of cart, various shots of people moving along road, using all types of transport, thousands walking. The above towns are Jullunder, Amritsar and Ferozepur.
