MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Speed the Work. DESCRIPTION: It is a national necessity for the country to produce more in a shorter space of time. Goods are wanted for export so that we can earn money abroad. Finishing on workers approaching factory. GV pithead wheel turning. MS miners collect lamps - enter lift and descend. Miners at work underground placing supports in position. Sir Stafford Cripps superimposed over above shot. Miners boring coal - shovelling coal. GV factory chimneys smoking . Stunt shots of workmen loading sacks of coal at double speed. Steel foundry. Crane lifts red hot steel . Steel along floor conveyor. Hot steel being hammered into shape . railway engine wheels blazing - being hardened. Workmen in boiler of engine working.
