MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: William Pit Disaster. DESCRIPTION: A heavy loss of life was incurred when an explosion took place deep in the William Pit at Whitehaven. SHOTLIST: GV pit as seen from cliffs, sea in background. MS shaft wheel turning. Elevated shots of small crowds waiting about outside mines, ambulances backing away from main gate. Rescue squads walk towards camera after coming up from below. SCU one taking his gear off. Elevated shot of weeping women being escorted from scene.
