MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen Mary’s Eightieth Birthday. DESCRIPTION: The Royal Family visited the Chelsea Flower Show and Queen Mary also was an early visitor. On 26th May Queen Mary celebrates her eightieth birthday and Movietone wish her many happy returns. SHOTLIST: KS CU Royal Coat of Arms. Royal Family, King (in civilian clothes and bowler hat). Queen and Princess Elizabeth look at several flower exhibits. MS rock gardens. MS King, Queen, Princess Elizabeth in fur wrap and Princess Margaret looking at flower exhibits. Various shots of them looking around. Queen Mary standing by her car on arrival, greeted, inside walking round and studying flower exhibits. FADE TO LIBRARY MATERIAL - Queen Mary with church dignitary leaves Westminster Abbey. King George V & Queen Mary as Prince and Princess of Wales leave building (unknown). They walk through gardens crowded with people (Golden Age). Various shots of Coronation procession passing through London, crowds (dense) cheering. Fade elevated shot of Royal carriage turning into St Paul’s Cathedral, this being the 1935 Silver Jubilee. CU King George V and Queen Mary in carriage. Driving through huge crowds (cheering etc.). Queen Mary with Princesses Elizabeth & Margaret as children at Tattoo. MS of same in box. CU Princess Elizabeth in box. CU Queen Mary with Duke of Windsor, several shots. In the Mall on Victory Day, Queen Mary already on dais, King & Queen Elizabeth arrive, walk to former and kiss on both cheeks, most natural, looks most unofficial. Queen Mary at the Ideal Home Exhibition, being escorted round by Lord Rothermere, also with Mr McClean. Queen Mary with Princess Elizabeth entering Battersea Power Station, as Queen Mary enters she turns and waves. SCU Queen Mary & Princess seated on chairs. Queen Mary smiling & talking (silent) to Princess. CU Queen Mary smiling.
