- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: With Byrd in the Antarctic. DESCRIPTION: Pictures of the Byrd Expedition in the Antarctic, where certain experiments are being carried out. SHOTLIST: KS Shot from bows of ship, passing through ice covered water, which appears to be steaming. GVs of black, mud-covered icebergs. LS & GV of American Naval Captain being transferred from one ship to another by breeches buoy, the cable breaks and the Captain goes in the water, elevated shot of him in the icy water. Whaleboat approaches captain, pulls him out of water. Whaleboat slung alongside ship on winch, with crew and survivor in same. Jet plane takes off from carrier. Aerial of base camp, plane taxies across snowy ground. Admiral Byrd alights. CU Byrd. Sled dogs almost covered in snow. Cameraman chases away seals. CU seal. Frogmen enter icy water to test naval swimsuits. Several shots of them in water, also eating ice cream while in water. LS explorers feeding penguins with vitamins and fish. CU penguin swallowing fish and CU of his neck as it passes down. CU penguin nodding his head from side to side.
