Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Jerusalem a Sealed City. DESCRIPTION: More pictures of British families from Jerusalem and other dangerous areas in Palestine, so called ‘Operation Polly’. Sandbags and barbed wire appear in the streets of Jerusalem as a preventive measure. SHOTLIST: KS GV Jerusalem street. British people evacuate town, boarding houses etc. Various shots of troops putting up barbed wire emplacements. Squares and flats wired off. Sandbag emplacements being fixed up. Soldiers with their rifles projecting from same. Tanks patrol streets. Officers inspect troops passes. Several shots of troops in streets, emplacements etc. British civilians at airport, Halifax takes off. Wives and children lean out of buses kissing their husbands and fathers. Main Bethlehem road being closed, barbed wire placed across same. Palestinian girls return from market with goods on their heads. Boy on pony stops and hands his pass to military policeman. MP stops limousine for pass. Shepherd taking his sheep through streets of city. Troops dig in the main streets of the city.
