Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Test Match - England One Down. DESCRIPTION: A storm during the First Test made the wicket unplayable and did nothing to help the English batsmen. The victory was Australia’s and all the English can do is look forward to Test number two, SHOTLIST: KS Back view crowds at stadium. GV SV crowds ditto. CU man’s stockinged feet GV. LS of Australians getting boundaries, 3 shots. Shot of boundary camera pans with ball, ball runs over boundary. Spectators seated in tree. GV Edrich bowling to Tallon, out LBW. Wright bowling Johnson, out LBW. GV Edrich bowls Tribe, caught Gibb. Wright bowls McCool, out LBW. Shot of scoreboard. Bradman and Hammond, latter in lounge suit, looks more like umpire, inspecting wicket. CUs of Edrich batting and being hit many times on many parts of his body. GV Miller bowling to Washbrook, ball hits Washbrook on head. MS Bradman, Washbrook and other players in group, Washbrook rubbing his head. GV Miller bowls to Edrich, caught in slips by McCool. MS Miller bowling Ikin, caught Tallon, both previous scenes end with batsman beginning to walk off pitch. SCU Hammond patting pitch with bat. CU Miller bowling - slow motion. Hammond hitting ball for six, ball falls amongst crowds. CU Hammond ducking to miss ball. MS Hammond bowled LBW, Hammond begins to walk off. MS stumps sprawled. GV Yardley batting, bowled by Toshack, caught Hassett (you don’t see Hassett catch ball). MS Toshack bowls and catches Bedser to end match, team fielding and batsmen rush to stumps etc. Crowds rush onto pitch. GV crowds on pitch.
