Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Freedom of City for Lord Louis. DESCRIPTION: Another of our War Leaders is honoured with the Freedom of the City of London. Earl Mountbatten of Burma explained in his speech how he appreciated receiving the Sword of Honour. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Lord Louis inspecting Royal Marine Guard of Honour and speaking to one (silent). Interior Guildhall. MS Lord Mayor (Sir Charles Davis) presenting Sword of Honour to Lord Louis. Cut-in applauding guests etc. Lord Louis walks to mike, and addresses audience, speaks about treasuring sword and that it will hang above the sword surrendered by Count Terauchi (F/M); 190,000 Japanese troops were killed in Burma Campaign, Allied troops skill, courage etc. beat the Japs not the atom bomb, that was merely an excuse for the Emperor to surrender! Crowds applaud. Lord Louis leaves, followed by Lady Louis, Lord Mayor etc., crowds applaud. Driving in open carriage through crowded streets, approaching Mansion House. Lord Louis on balcony of Mansion House. Cut-in crowds cheering, clapping etc. Lord Louis addresses crowd if there are any of my SEAC friends down there in the crowd, I want them to know that they should be up here with me. MS Lord and Lady Louis on balcony waving to crowds.
