MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King With British Legion & Laying Stone of Homes for War Veterans. DESCRIPTION: BRITISH LEGION’S 25TH - A Drum-head Service and march-past in Edinburgh marked the 25th Anniversary of the British Legion. HOMES FOR WAR VETERANS - At Muirhouse the King laid a foundation stone for new cottages for the Scottish Veterans Garden City Association. SHOTLIST: KS Various shots of King and Queen standing up in open car drive to dais past British Legion men. Crowd cut-in watching from Arthur’s Seat, King’s Park. King conversing (silent) with blind British Legion men. Royal Family (all four) on dais, watch marchpast, various shots of Legion marching past, led by pipers. Girls included in marchpast. Cut-in of dais shows King, Queen, Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret and General Sir Ian Hamilton. Shots of marchpast. At Muirhouse, King alights from car, raining hard, Queen accompanies him carrying umbrella, greeted by Lord Rosebery, walk to where King is to lay foundation stone. Shots of him using spirit level to see if stone is horizontal and lays stone. CU stone, words inscribed on same to the affect that it was laid by the King. King and Queen introduced to Sir Harry Lauder and Mr Will Fyffe, various shots of four chatting (silent). CU Lauder and CU Fyffe as they leave royal dais.
