- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Old England V Surrey - the Oval. DESCRIPTION: To celebrate the centenary of Surrey Cricket Club they took on Old England at the Oval. The King attended the match and had quite a long chat with veteran Jack Hobbs who acted as one of the umpires. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: GV pavilion. Team Old England walk out onto pitch. Group shot. CU pan of team and two Umpires, Jack Hobbs, Percy Holmes, Allom, Maurice Tate, Brooks, Sandham, Strudwick, Patsy Hendren, Douglas Jardine, Percy Fender, Herbert Sutcliffe, Frank Woolley, Knight and Freeman. CU Board Surrey won Toss. Bennett and Fender toss up. Hobbs and Strudwick walk out to wickets as umpires. GV of pitch, play in progress with gasholder in background. MS Maurice Tate bowling. Tich Freeman bowling. Patsy Hendren fielding, runs to ball and falls over. King inspects teams, chats with Jack Hobbs. Crowd cut-ins. GV play and Woolley batting, Hendren battling, Hendren walks to pavilion after being caught out, Jardine goes out and batting. Raises cap on scoring 50. Close of play, draw. Hobbs carries in stumps, autograph hunters gather round him, he refuses to sign.
