MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rubber for Europe. DESCRIPTION: The Rubber Estates of Malaya are being re-opened. Much work is involved in repairing the neglect of the war years. SHOTLIST: KS GV rubber plantation. Various shots of rubber plantations, planter walks through ruined plantation. Rubber trees which have been chopped down by the Japs. Jungle undergrowth again growing around rubber trees and choking same. Natives working, cutting away undergrowth. Native tapping rubber trees. Native women sorting crepe and rubber sheeting. Bales of rubber being loaded onto ships and lowered into hold.
