MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Bank Holiday Sport. DESCRIPTION: LORD’S - A record crowd attended Lord’s for the fourth Victory Test between England and Australia. The weather was not kind but it didn’t stop everyone enjoying themselves and the Aussies getting off to a good start making 273 for five. WHITE CITY - The athletics at White City also drew the crowds to watch Gunder Hagg of Sweden win the two mile race. The mile race was a battle between Andersson of Sweden and Wooderson of Great Britain with the Swede emerging the victor. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Crowds queuing outside Lord’s. Various shots of crowds inside. Hammond & Hassett come out, toss-up, Hassett wins. England come out to field. Crowd scenes, putting macs on etc. as rain commences, pan over to team running for shelter. Aussies batting, Miller makes his century. Monty & Lord Halifax arrive, watch game from inside committee room. Batsman hits ball to square leg to finish at Lord’s. (152ft). At White City, athletics march round stadium, elevated shot. Start of two-mile run. CU starter. Gunder Hagg (No 9) & Wilson (No 7) soon leave rest of runners well in the rear. Hagg passing Tribon (USA) who’s a lap behind. Hagg runs into camera, winning time 9 mins, 06 secs. Cut-ins of crowds. Start of the 1-mile run, Arne Andersson (No 9), & S Wooderson (No 3), Pascoe (No 8) takes the lead, Wooderson & Andersson take the lead, Andersson leading, shot of the two running in slow motion. Elevated shot of Wooderson overtaking Andersson at end of third lap. Slow motion of Wooderson leading, with Andersson in the rear. Elevated shot of the two running. SV, two on the lst stretch of straight run, Andersson starts to sprint, overtakes Wooderson & wins by 2.5 yards. CU both Wooderson & Andersson shaking hands.
