Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Monty in Berlin. DESCRIPTION: Field Marshal Montgomery arrived at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin to attend a meeting of the Allied Control Council. The main purpose of the meeting was to agree the constitution of the Allied Control Commission, with the fixing of zones to be occupied by Britain, America and France. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Trucking shot Tempelhof Aerodrome. GV Dakota plane, Monty alights. Greeted by General Sokolovsky. Inspects Russian Guard of Honour, also takes salute at marchpast. Cut-ins of ATS & Red Army girls mingling amongst themselves. GV of building (late Berlin Rowing Club) where Allied control Commission Council was held. SV General Zhukov entering. GV Eisenhower & Monty arriving. Interior - GV of officials seated round table, including de Tassigny. MS Zhukov addressing. General de Lattre de Tassigny signing agreement, Eisenhower signing, Montgomery signing, lastly CU Zhukov signing. Sitting next to Monty is Sir William Strang (Monty’s Political Advisor). Outside house, shot of the above four signatories. CU panning left then right.
