Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Link-Up (Russian & American). DESCRIPTION: The Americans and Russians linked-up on the River Elbe near Torgau, General Reinhardt crossing the river to meet General Rosakov. Later the GIs and men of the Red Army greeted each other. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Various shots of USSR & USA troops mingling. Shots of Elbe River, shows US General Reinhardt & his staff crossing in boat, (similar to type used in Oxford & Cambridge Boat race). CU Reinhardt in boat. On Russian side of bank, reccy patrols meet, parade across open country bearing USSR, USA, Union Jack which is in the fore for a moment. Shots of Russian General Rosakov walking down road to meet US Major General Reinhardt, both shake hands. Various shots of Russian troops & GIs in courtyard of German barracks. Drinking Vodka. One USSR soldier plays accordion.
