Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ships That Went East B/S "King George V" & A/C "Indefatigable". DESCRIPTION: Pictures have now been released of the launch of HMS "Indefatigable" and the ship at Portsmouth where the King inspected her. "Indefatigable" is now in the Far East, as is "King George V" which was also inspected by His Majesty before leaving for duty. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. At Milford Haven, elevated shot of Aircraft Carrier "Indefatigable" lying on stocks. Small group on launching platform. CU Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven (Lord Louis’s mother). MS of Lord Louis Mountbatten with his mother. Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven launches Aircraft Carrier, bottle crashes on side, carrier down slipway out of camera. Carrier in water. At Portsmouth, GV of "Indefatigable" bows in the fore. King, up to flight deck on elevator. King inspects Royal Marines. CU Admiral Vian, also with other officers. On KGV at a Scottish port. King inspects crew. Also present are the Queen, & two Princesses. Various shots of Royal Family inspecting ship. Princesses climb ladder to gun turret. GV Royal Family about to leave ship, Queen shakes hands with Captain. Various shots of them on Motor Launch, of course the King is piped off the ship. GV of "King George V" with her decks packed with the crew, all cheering as launch passes. CU of Princesses Elizabeth & Margaret, excellent, make special note.
