Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Great Russian Offensive - Warsaw Falls. DESCRIPTION: No capital city has suffered like Warsaw, scenes from 1939 show how it was subjected to almost continuous bombardment by the Luftwaffe. The Soviet Army has now liberated the beleaguered city, although film of their rapid advance has not yet been received. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated shot of city. Shots of Warsaw with traffic passing through. Houses on fire, in ruins, wounded carried through streets, wrecked planes etc. on houses. Majority of houses in complete ruin. Russian infantry march through streets. Aerial shots of Warsaw. In Moscow, firing salute at capture of city, also firing rockets. Russian tanks across fields various. Explosions around tanks as they advance. Infantry run behind tanks. Long trail of German prisoners marching through snow covered valley. Tank passes prisoners. CU Koniev looking through periscope in trench. CU Zhukov seated at table. CU Rokossovosky smoking cigarette. CU Stalin. More tanks going forward, artillery, light & heavy firing from fields at enemy. Smoke rising, finish on Russian infantry marching past camera (in marchpast).
