- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Middelburg Cleared. DESCRIPTION: The capture of Middelburg and the clearing of Walcheren Island meant virtually the end of land fighting to free the port of Antwerp. To aid the defence of Middelburg the island had been flooded and prisoners had to be ferried out on assault boats. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated shot of Middelburg, several elevated shots of same. Small crowds in streets wave, dance, etc., pan of streets show houses bedecked with flags. Various shots of prisoners marching through city. Pan of captured small arms lying on ground. Captured German Lt General Daser of 70th Division. Various shots of General Daser. Various shots of flooded areas of Middelburg, this was flooded by us before attack. German prisoner ferry across flooded area in our assault boats. General Daser enters assault boat, stands in bows. In the various shots of Daser there is a close-up of him.
