MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Landing on the Philippines. DESCRIPTION: The story of General MacArthur’s return to the Philippines opens with a violent carrier-based air blitz on those islands and their communications. When the General landed he was accompanied by President Osmena. Filipino guerrillas had been waging continuous war on the Japanese and the General decorated one of them for bravery. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS Allied planes fly low over Philippines. Aerial shots of Jap planes being shot up. Aerial combat, etc. Planes shooting up ships (tracers), one an ammunition ship explodes. Other ships burning MacArthur boards warship. Aerial shot of colossal armada, all types of ships MS Air Commander Lt General George Kenney, watches bombardment of islands. Various shots of cruisers firing broadsides, smaller craft rockets, tracers, etc., just off beach. Lines of LCTs approach beaches also out of camera. LSTs approach beach, troops disembark from LSTs. Various shots of American troops on beaches. MacArthur down gangway of Warship. CU MacArthur walks through water to beach accompanied by Philippines President Osmena. Both walk along beaches. General activity on beaches. Sherman tanks along road. Filipino children play in streets, watch troops etc. Outside Provincial Capital Building American troops parade, MacArthur decorates pilot. GV of Stars and Stripes being raised outside Capital Building.
