- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Landings on Riviera. DESCRIPTION: The landings in the South of France were carried out by air and sea, any opposition was swiftly overcome. By the time these pictures reached London, allied casualties were put at 800 with 14,000 prisoners taken. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS Line ahead of LSTs flying barrage balloons. Various shots of LCIs on way to South of France. Various AVs of gliders scattered about aerodromes & in straight lines, DC3s take off towing "Horsa" gliders. Various pilots of gliders grouped round sand table (model of country they were to invade), being briefed. Various AVs aerodrome with gliders, British paratroops prepare aerodrome, various, one ties small Union Jack armlet onto comrades, gliders loaded with guns. Shots of LCIs under way, also into camera. Loaded with troops, approaching shore. Americans jump off onto beaches, various approach inland, shots of captured German prisoners. More shots of British troops advancing inland.
