MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cherbourg Peninsula Secured. DESCRIPTION: The Cherbourg Peninsular has been liberated after fierce fighting. Close co-operation between all forces has been a great factor in our success. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Night shots of house on fire. At Montebourg, street fighting Americans throw grenades into house, fire rifles, etc. Montebourg sign on wall. Various shots of fires burning, with 1914/1918 War memorial in fore (complete). American infantry march along country road out of camera, single file each side of road. Hundreds of prisoners off LTC. Various shots of them marching through streets. Also CUs passing camera. Filing into cages. Aerial of Bostons in formation, aerial of steel factory at Caen (animated). Bombs falling to earth, mass hits on target & explosions. Aerial of smoke from explosions with Mitchell in fore. AFU - Various shots of KO Panther tanks in village of Lingreues, also one KO Sherman in background ruins of village. At 79th General Hospital Bayeaux/Tilly road, nurses of Queen Alexandra Imperial Nursing Service assist with wounded, one carried on stretcher from tent. Nurses washing up crockery. Their beds are in a slit trench, nurses climb into beds. GV of group and CU pan of same. In Tilly, various shots of British troops in streets, sapper lifts mine. Shots of British troops searching houses for stray sniper, etc.
