Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: U-Boat Hunters Kill Six. DESCRIPTION: Four sloops, the "Starling", "Wild Goose", "Kite" and "Magpie" return to Liverpool after routing a U-Boat pack in the North Atlantic. A fifth sloop, the "Woodpecker", was lost but all her crew were saved. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr Alexander, was there to greet the ships. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Various shots of Sloops entering docks, which are lined with cheering Wrens. German Sub. Prisoners disembark from Sloop, shots of them walking along quay. More shots of Wrens & sailors cheering. Mr AV Alexander piped off Sloop, into camera. Various shots of crowds of sailors awaiting to hear speech by Alexander. There are some good shots of crowds of sailors also in the cut worth remembering. MS CU of Mr AV Alexander congratulating officers & rating of Sloops, group shot of Alexander. Captain Walker, & Admiral Max Horton (C-in-C). The Sloops that are seen are the "Starling", "Wild Goose", "Kite", "Magpie".
