Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Pacific - Pummelling the Japs. DESCRIPTION: After taking Makin in the Gilbert Islands attention was turned to the Marshall Islands. Allied air power began carried out bombing raids on Japanese emplacements. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GS of convoy, aerial of Makin Island, US troops come ashore off LCIs. Shots of jungle advance. Jap bomber crashes, leaves trail. Fire small artillery in jungle, GV Jap seaplane in ruins. Various aerial of attack on airfields, shipping, etc. Somewhere on New Guinea, crews board Mitchell bomber, several shots of dog who wants to go aboard, another shot of him lying on ground, looks depressed. Aerial formation of Mitchells, (very good), over target, low flying, bombs fall (parachute bombs), aerial of explosions on target New Britain. Over Cape Gloucester, Liberators bomb same, bombs go down and shots of explosions by same. The latter are concentrated. This is very good material.
