- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Remembrance of the Few. DESCRIPTION: The Anniversary of the Battle of Britain was marked at Biggin Hill by a service attended by Lord Trenchard. A memorial to commemorate over 200 Fighter Pilots were unveiled by Group-Captain Malan. The King and Queen attended the Battle of Britain Sunday Service at St Paul’s Cathedral and later in the day His Majesty reviewed a march past at Buckingham Palace. SHOTLIST: Cut story - At Northolt, line of Spitfires, engines turning over, various shots of formation flying by ‘Spits’, all taken from ground, low level flying, over, into camera etc. CU RAF Ensign, fade to Biggin Hill, shows Lord Trenchard standing by car, choir filing into chapel, WAAFS seated in background. Interior shot of congregation. CU Altar, pan up Cross & RAF Chaplain-in-Chief dedicating. Short piece of Trenchard reading the lesson. From the commencement of Biggin Hill Service, you can hear "O God Our Help in Ages Past" being played, congregation singing unknown hymn. GS of Altar & Malan unveils memorial to those fighter pilots who were killed in the Battle of Britain. Pan down of memorial. CU Malan (Group Captain). Fade to LS of St Paul’s Cathedral, blitzed area in fore, & GS of St Paul’s. Royal car arriving, K&Q greeted by S Joseph (Lord Mayor) who leads them up the steps, himself holding the Queen Elizabeth Sword. K&Q enter Cathedral. Fade to Buckingham Palace, shots of crowds. Just before leaving St Paul’s, shot of condensation trails made by planes, as seen through porchway. GS of Indian Division outside Palace, second from the left being Gurkha VC. Lord Dowding speaking with K&Q. Shot of "Evans of the Broke". CU K&Q. King saluting. Civil Defence marching past stand, cut-in K&Q on stand. Factory workers march past, all categories, RAF followed by RAF regiment, then came the WAAFs, & lastly more of the RAF. While the workers were marching past, the band was playing "Workers Playtime", for the RAF the "RAF March".
