MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Reading Between the Lines (No 2). DESCRIPTION: The first Canadian built Lancaster arrives in Britain. Indian troops, including the VC Subadar Lalbahadur Thapa, were honoured in Shoreditch. The world’s biggest motor-bus is used as a troop transporter in America. Munda airfield is captured from the Japanese. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Newspaper, with microscope being placed over same, shows print "Reading Between The Lines". Lancasters (44032) taxiing into camera. CU Engine turning, WAAF signals plane into position. Crew disembark, one holding mascot "Bamba" (small dog). GS of sign on fuselage "Ruhr Express". (44025) Elevated shot of blitzed area, with crowds surrounding stand, on which are the Mayor & Mayoress of Shoreditch, also Mayors of Poplar, Bethnal Green, & Stepney, & Subadar Lalbahadur Thapa VC with Lt Colonel RB Scott. Mayor of Shoreditch & VC shake hands. Kids crowd round the VC endeavouring to shake his hand. (44024) American troops march along road out of camera. GS of bus, various angle shots of troops boarding same, panning to troops. Bus moves off along road, soldiers looking out of portholes, Jeep passes bus. (44012) Various GS of flame thrower, demonstrations with same, also several simultaneously, throwing flame at camera. Throwing flame at trees. Shoreditch Pays Tribute To Indian Division - CARD 44025 Cut story - Elevated shot of blitzed area, with crowds surrounding stand, on which are the Mayor & Mayoress of Shoreditch, Subadar Lalbahadur Thapa VC. Mayor & VC shake hands, kids crowding round the VC. Canadian Built Lancaster Arrives - CARD 44032 Location - Northolt Cut story - Lancaster taxiing into camera on aerodrome. CU Engine turning. Bus moves off along road. Troops look out of portholes. Bus along road, Jeep passes same. Flame Throwers - CARD 44012 Location - Munda Cut story - Various GS of flame thrower demonstrations of same. Throwing flame into camera. GS of flame being thrown at trees, where "sniper" is supposed to be.
