Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fall of Catania. DESCRIPTION: General Montgomery’s big attack on Catania came to fruition on the fifth of August. The population of Catania were pleased to welcome our troops. SHOTLIST: Cut story - LS of troops over rubble & country. LS Catania. In Catania troops along street searching for snipers, moving stealthily alongside wall, over debris etc. Elevated shot of marshalling yards, in shambles, wrecked trucks, trains etc. & pan of same. GS of troops marching through Catania (out of camera); single file of officers & men over debris, pass Sicilians waving etc. GS of troops being cheered, applauded etc. (silent). Sicilians at balconies throw loot to their friends below, shots of crowds clamouring for same. Troops past camera just head & shoulders barricades in fore. Transport through street & crowds welcome them, also single file troops. GS of Sicilian Police & pan of same, all look very happy. CU types of police. Painting of Duce on wall & Sicilians throwing tomatoes etc. at same.
