Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Coal Production. DESCRIPTION: Coal is a vital munition of war and Movietone has gone underground to see the miners at work. The importance of coal in the war effort is reflected in the fact that the army has released many good soldiers to return to the mines. Boys are being taught the craft and young men between 18 and 25 are being given the choice of mining or joining the forces. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Major Lloyd George speaking about coal mining. GS of Colliery. Pan down chimney stack. Miners being issued with lamps. GS miners outside colliery. Miners going down lift shaft. GS of miner at controls. Various mining machines, including conveyors carrying coal. Miner used crowbar to remove coal. Truckload of coal. Boys grading coal. Open air coalfield, Rustans at work. CU Grab.
