Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Raid on Eindhoven. DESCRIPTION: Bombers of the RAF carry out a raid on the Philips Works at Eindhoven in Holland. One hundred light bombers went on the raid, twelve did not return and a number of those that did were severely shot up. SHOTLIST: Cut story - The story commences with various angle shots of Mosquitos preparing to leave for raid (not bombing up) taxiing, & taking off. Venturas’ ditto. Bostons’ ditto. LS flying into camera irregular formation of planes, also aerial views of English country; Previous to taking off pilot closes window of cockpit. All three types of planes flying at roof top height into camera, over English coast; camera in front part of plane shooting the sea, SV of Bostons approaching (front view again) Dutch coast, still at roof top height, go right into target at this height taking aerial shot of country as we go. Target now comes into view, (all the photography is taken by second Boston), we can see the one in front all the way, it now commences shooting up roof spotters, we follow suit, going right over target; aerial shot of target & surrounding buildings. What follows is taken at much greater height, and has been terribly marked & scarred. Various angle shots of Philips Valve Works, showing smoke rising from same (Stills). CU pilot at controls, he winks at camera. Tracer bullets could be seen shooting towards target. GS Mosquito preparing landing on aerodrome, crew get out, being questioned by interrogation officer. MS pan of crashed landed Bostons, smashed propellers, wings, badly knocked about; also a Ventura which has had wing shot away. The Boston’s undercarriage failed to function owing to continuous hitting.
