MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Madagascar - Peaceful Penetration. DESCRIPTION: More pictures have arrived illustrating the successful operations of our forces in Madagascar. SHOTLIST: Cut Story - Good shot of island with sun rising. View of island after dawn had broken. Shot of ALC approaching coast, also part of a destroyer. Good shot of ALC’s approaching coast. Troops landing on beach, lorries coming off craft, including artillery and motors. Troops laying wire netting across beach. Lorry off ALC. CU name of building ‘Chambre de Commerce’ pan down to entrance, officer leaving building. Large tree in centre of road used at ‘roundabout’. Artillery going along road, and through village. Shot of broken bridge (angle shots). Bren-carrier and troops crossing same. Army lorry crossing bridge made of rushes and stick, etc. Motor-cycle going up embankment. Shot of fires from bridge, this being of country-side. Look-out on top of hill. Shot of hand grenades, also of very old type of gun. Trees laying in road, used as road block.
