Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Prime Ministers Tour in the NE. DESCRIPTION: During his tour Mr Churchill visited factories, a Bomber Command Station and the Armoured Division. In Leeds he spoke, saying that although we hadn’t yet topped the ridge, the ridge was now in sight. SHOTLIST: 1. PM inspects bomber station. NE district. 2. Inspection of crews inside hangar. 3. CUs of PM in uniform of Air Commodore. 4. Shot of PM with Dr Evatt, Australian Minister for External Affairs and several Air Force officers. 5. Exterior shot. 6. Inspection of personnel by party, including Mr Attlee. 7. Party arrive at station of shell filling factory and general shots of party walking round sheds. 8. The PM tries his hand at a cartridge making machine. 9. As he emerges from crowd, girl hands him a cigar and he gives her a kiss before walking to car. 10. LEEDS. PM arrives at station. Shot showing him walking with Mayor and Civic party and CU on platform. 11. Shots of PM walking through engineering and arms factories. Metal being hammered. Girls working electric welders, etc. 12. Leaving factory. Crowds, etc. 1. IN LEEDS CITY. Crowds welcome the Prime Minister. 2. Various shots of crowd and CUs of PM with Dr Evatt. 3. PM later visits Ninth Armoured Division, where he inspects Guard of Honour and line of planes. 4. He tours an armoured parade in a tank (several shots and CUs). 5. Takes the salute of march past from top of tank.
