MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Burma Fighting and Chiang Kai Sheks. DESCRIPTION: British, Burmese and Indian troops have fought a dogged rear-guard action, these pictures show the re-capture of Shwegyin, a strategic point on the Sittang River. SHOTLIST: Taken from Script and Story (CARD 42220). British, Burmese and Indian troops fighting a rear-guard action. Scenes from fighting when Shwegyn was captured on the Sittang River. Our troops going through the town. Shot of General Alexander with the General who captured the town. A good CU of Alexander and a shot of a Fifth Column Burmese. Shot of Reginald Sir Dorman-Smith (Governor of Burma) with a group of people?? Chinese troops reinforcing and being inspected by Governor. Shot of a soldier holding a Chinese flag. General Shek gets out of plane followed by Madame. They walk to aerodrome. The good CUs of this pair were taken out for the ‘Chungking Story’ (negative).
