Summary
Pathe synopsis: Cruising down the river - in this case the Thames - becomes something of a sentimental journey when you’re aboard the "Ryde", Britain’s only coal-burning paddle steamer still in active service. And they’re mourning the end of an epoch. The "Ryde" is all dressed up as an Edwardian Gin Palace to revive the gin-sodden glories of a century ago. There’s jellied eels - and Pearly Kings; the unchanging river-side sights of Greenwich - and a night-time ball with Acker Bilk and his band supplying the musical hall nostaliga. And gin.
