Summary
Pathe synopsis: The latest revolution to shake London has nothing to do with teenage trends. It’s as fuddy-duddy (or swinging, whichever way you look at it) as green fingers. Gardening. An immaculate fifty-five acre garden centre has been grafted on to parkland in the grounds of Syon House, the Duke of Northumberland’s stately home at Brentford. Kew Gardens is just across the river but Syon has its own long-standing reputation - horticultural and historical. But now this garden means big business. It’s taken three years - and half a million pounds - to complete, a horticultural supermarket, the biggest allotment there’s ever been. Napoleon once said we were a nation of shopkeepers. Times have changed.
