- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Bardia Captured. DESCRIPTION: British tanks moved through a smoke-screen at the beginning of the offensive. Germans were captured on the Tobruk-Bardia road and then came the surrender of the town of Bardia. The German commander General Schmitt came out to surrender unconditionally to General de Villiers. SHOTLIST: Tanks move forward through a smoke screen. Germans are captured. A white flag on a gun intimates surrender and General Schmitt and two Italian generals surrender to General de Villiers. Prisoners are taken and marched away, headed by a Bren carrier and two dogs past a blazing oil dump. British prisoners who were released dance to a gramophone and there is a general view of the shattered town.
