- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Spitsbergen Raid. DESCRIPTION: A mixed force of British, Canadian and Norwegian troops land unopposed at Spitsbergen. They complete the object of their mission, they fire the coal stores and mining equipment, thus rendering them useless to the Nazis. SHOTLIST: Various shots of troops embarking. Three Canadians who took part in the raid give their impressions. The ships arrive at Spitsbergen, and the men go ashore in the invasion barges. The Wireless Station is blown up to start with big stacks of coal were burnt, as was all mining gear and facilities. Aerial shots of the materials burning. The Norwegians were taken off the island, and they were brought back to England. Various shots of the Norwegian men, women and children.
